Big shout out to Liliana Martins who supported the London School of Samba by teaching Olympic Skier Chemmy Alcott some moves for her performance on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, showing Sunday 12th February at 6.30pm. LSS through to 2nd round of LUKAS Awards!

The London School of Samba have made it through to the second round of voting in the LUKAS Awards in both of the categories that we were nominated in:

The London School of Samba has been nominated twice in the category ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Entertainment Industry’ under

‘Brazilian Dance School of the Year’ and
‘Brazilian Dance Performers of the Year’

Also through in the ‘Brazilan Teacher of the Year’ category is one or our amazing teachers:

Romero de Mangueira

This is a huge achievement being one of the top five nominees for each respective category (out of a total of 850 nominees across the LUKAS awards).

Annual General Meeting 11th December 2011

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) this year will be held on
Sunday 11th December 5.30pm – 9.00pm at the Waterloo Action Centre
and we are hoping to see as many people there as possible.
This meeting provides the opportunity for us to review the past year so that we can celebrate our achievements and learn from our shortcomings to improve on things for future years.

If you are a member all documents will be circulated by Friday 2nd December and some copies will also be made available at the meeting.

Please note: dance and drumming classes are cancelled on the 11th December due to this meeting but we will be open as usual on Sunday 19th December. We are then closed over the Christmas and New Year period – and open again on Sunday 8th January.

Farewell to our Madrinha, Di Foden

Sadly, our beloved Madrinha, has passed away this week. Her Family would like to thank you for the overwhelming response. Your kind, witty and thoughtful comments have been a great comfort. If you would like to come along and pay your respects, please see information below for the service and gathering afterwards.
